The National Monument (Monas) area now appears with a fresh and lush new look. The revitalization project, which has been ongoing for several months, prioritized the addition of green open spaces and the improvement of pedestrian pathways. Thousands of new trees have been planted at various strategic points, creating a cooler atmosphere amidst the heat of Jakarta. Additionally, the southern plaza is now complete and ready to be used for various large-scale public events.Visitors can now enjoy wider and more comfortable jogging tracks, as well as more seating areas scattered under the shady trees. The Jakarta Provincial Government hopes that this revitalization will not only beautify the capital's icon but also improve air quality and comfort for both local and international tourists visiting.

Spectacular! Monas Video Mapping Show Returns to Mesmerize Thousands of Visitors

The highly anticipated video mapping light attraction finally returned to adorn the Monas monument tonight. Thousands of Jakarta residents crowded the goblet area to witness the visual performance narrating the history of Indonesia's struggle. With the latest laser technology, the visualizations displayed appeared sharper, more colorful, and livelier compared to previous years.This event is part of Jakarta's anniversary celebrations and will be held every weekend throughout this month. Besides video mapping, visitors were also entertained by a dancing fountain moving in sync with instrumental traditional songs. The management urges visitors to maintain cleanliness and order while enjoying this free entertainment.

Unveiling the History of the Golden Flame at Monas Peak: Teuku Markam's Contribution

Did you know that a significant portion of the gold coating the flame at the peak of Monas was donated by a wealthy merchant from Aceh? Teuku Markam, a successful entrepreneur during President Soekarno's era, donated 28 kilograms of gold out of the total 38 kilograms present during the initial construction of Monas.The flame symbolizes the burning and undying spirit of the Indonesian nation's struggle. This flame structure is made of bronze which was then coated with pure gold sheets. Over time, in 1995, this gold coating was increased to 50 kilograms to strengthen its resistance to weather. This story of generosity stands as proof of the community's mutual cooperation in building the nation's symbol of pride.

Good News! Monas Tower Operating Hours Extended Until Night

Responding to the high enthusiasm of the public to enjoy the view of Jakarta city at night, the Monas Management Unit (UPK) has officially extended the operational hours for access to the tower peak. Starting this week, ticket counters will be open until 21:00 WIB on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.This policy is expected to accommodate tourists who do not have time to visit during the day due to work commitments. The view of Jakarta's skyscraper lights from a height of 132 meters offers a different and romantic experience. Visitors are advised to buy tickets early or use JakCard to speed up the entry queue process.

Monas Implements Full Cashless Payment for All Tourist Facilities

In an effort to support the smart city program and reduce cash usage, the Monas area now mandates cashless payments for all its facilities. Ranging from tower entrance tickets, bike rentals, to food purchases in the Lenggang Jakarta area, all transactions now use JakCard or QRIS.This step was taken to increase financial transparency, speed up transactions, and reduce long queues at counters. For visitors who do not yet have an electronic money card, the management provides special counters for purchasing and topping up JakCard balances at the IRTI and West Gate entrances. Socialization has been carried out since a month ago to ensure this transition runs smoothly.

Flora and Fauna Exhibition (Flona) 2026 Returns to Adorn Monas Area

The Jakarta Flora and Fauna Exhibition (Flona) is being held again at Lapangan Banteng and parts of the Monas area this year. This annual event, always awaited by plant lovers, presents thousands of species of ornamental plants, fruit plants, and unique pets. Booths from various administrative regions of DKI Jakarta are competing to display their best garden decorations.This year, the theme is "Green Jakarta, Sustainable Jakarta". In addition to the exhibition, visitors can also participate in various free workshops such as how to plant hydroponics, care for bonsai, and terrariums. This event is free and open to the public, lasting for a full month from morning to evening.
